D-347

I’m back!!!

Unfortunately I had a catastrophe with my laptop and had to restore it to factory settings so I haven’t managed to get on for a while.

Training is plodding on… literally but I have still lost not an ounce in weight… but I am feeling fitter. Bonus! I’ll write more and start placing pics of my beautiful Suffolk training ground as soon as I get a chance.

d-358 and I’ve got a…

…snot problem!

My nose runs like a hose while I’m running and it p****s me right off!!!

Is there any medical reason why you can’t take Contacts if you haven’t got a cold???  Tune in tomorrow and I’ll tell you if I die.

As for todays run… HY-frikkin-DRATE!!!

I had cotton mouth so bad, I could have knitted a jumper!  Between that and the snot I looked like a bog monster. I was scaring kids and young mothers as I ran by. More than usual! I really have to get a grip of my water intake.

PS We are looking for a celeb to join us to make a team of 4. Anyone know a celeb who wants to beast him/herself for a year in the name of Help for Heroes? Gratis of course.  John has someone in mind. Let’s see if the bloke is man enough :) I hope so.

Saturday by the way

d-359… John’s Committment

Friday (but written in the early hours of Saturday)

I dipped out on training last night because I had something to attend. Not all bad, it was enjoyable.

But I got out tonight for 3 and I’m looking at another 10 over the weekend and I’m looking forward to it.

Honestly… Looking forward to it :)

Oh, and last night, John Hirst joined our team. No getting out now John

I looked at the site tonight and they seem to have changed. I’m sure that I read that for this years race, a team was a minimum of 3 people. For next years it looks like 4.

So maybe, maybe we need one more… Shall we find a celebrity?

Wednesday

Day shifts at work today, tomorrow and Friday so I didn’t get out to run until I got home at half seven… It’s getting dark then!!! (soon be Christmas)

So it was another 3 miler and guess what? I enjoyed it. I know… I haven’t enjoyed a run in a very long time. This mightbe a turning point. Here’s hoping.

D-362

Tuesday

Just a 3 miler today. The weather was bloody aweful and the run I used to do a couple of years back has had about a mile added to it because of Shotley Marina’s new fence.

Ah well the miles are mounting up now, but the weight is not coming down yet.

D minus 363

Monday Monday

Well today is my first day off after four night shifts (I finish at 7am) and as such I’ve got a few things to do today.

I’ll not shirk though and I’ll go out for a gentle trot this morning. Not too far as I just want to loosen my legs off and at this early stage I don’t want to risk shin splints.

I will treat myself to a few beers tonight as it’s my Saturday but I’ve made a committment now to cut down on the ale to help my weight loss :(

Ach well, needs must and all that. I shall console myself with the fact that I will go to bed tipsy tonight :)

Anyway, I know this isn’t a well read Blog yet but I would still welcome any advice on legal energy supplements so if you have any please leave a comment.

Ferg’s Committment

Sunday

No sooner had I put a link to ‘Taff’s Committment’ onto my old units website ( http://www.88bty.com/forum ) than my old mate Ferg said that he would love to do it with me. Ferg  and I served together 20 odd years ago and we have only recently got back in touch with each other. Now that we have though there is almost daily contact. That’s the beauty of the internet. What a tool! The internet, not Ferg.

So after quickly establishing that he is very serious about it I’m glad to welcome Ferg aboard. I can’t say he’ll keep me company on the day because he has ambitions that are (even though my mind is willing) probably beyond the capability of my crunchy knees. Never say never though eh.

We live at opposite ends of the country so training together will be a rarity but something I’m looking forward to.

So, there’s no getting out of it now Fergie lad. You’re coming with me,  Para 10, Help for Heroes 2010!

The clock on the Para10 site has been updated. 363 days and 12hrs and counting down.

D minus 365 ish

Sunday

“Oh these feet carry me far. Oh my body. Oh so tired.
Mouth is dry. Hardly speak. Holy Spirit rise in me.” – James Blunt.

One word James boy. Hydrate!

Now, I must admit that even though I have only done two sessions, three if you include the one I did last month, I feel I should be going faster. All three have been done after a night shift though and I’m really feeling like my energy levels are low.

When I was in the army I could come in drunk at 4 am, get up at 6, have a good greasy fry up and knock out an 8 miler before NAAFI break. Now…

I need some sort of [legal] suppliment I think so, what do the professionals use?

PS. I shaved my head last night and knocked about 45 seconds off my five mile time! Does that mean I am more aerodynamic?

Good Luck!

Sunday

It’s 25 minutes to six in the morning and I’ll be home and preparing to go out for my second training session in about two hours- hydrate- and in 4 hours and 25 minutes this years Para 10 begins-hydrate.

I would like to wish all participants good luck-hydrate-and offer one small piece of advice. Hydrate!

Good luck everyone.

D minus 366 ish

Saturday

I got in the house straight from work at half seven this morning and went out and did the same five mile route that I did about a month ago but without the weight. It proved one thing, 35lbs costs me 10 minutes over five miles.

Unfortunately the bergan is compulsory so I need to drop the weight I’m carrying on my fatbody.

Today I am known as “Screamin’ Knees” and need to check the dictionary for hydrate.
